YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Yacht Club, in partnership with the Youngstown Civic Guild, provided Thanksgiving meal kits to more than 50 local families last week as part of an annual effort to support community members in need during the holiday season.
The meal kits, assembled and distributed at the Youngstown Yacht Club, included essential pantry items along with a turkey, offering families a complete holiday dinner. The initiative brought together volunteers from both organizations, along with members of the community, who spent the morning assembling several thousand pounds of donated food.
Organizers said the initiative reflects the spirit of cooperation and compassion that defines the Youngstown community.
“In our fifth year hosting this fundraiser, this Thanksgiving, I am so thankful to the donors, volunteers, and members of both organizations that make this event so successful. We have grown from helping 11 families in year one to 55 this year. This is what community is all about”, said yacht club Commodore Charles Kegler.
The collaboration between Youngstown Yacht Club and the Civic Guild aims to ensure that local families can gather around their tables with comfort, dignity and a sense of belonging during the holiday. Leaders from both groups emphasized that the event is only possible due to the generosity of donors, the commitment of volunteers and the shared mission to support neighbors facing difficult circumstances.
Youngstown Yacht Club members extend their gratitude to the Civic Guild, volunteers, donors and community partners who helped make this year’s effort possible. Both organizations reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the community through service-based initiatives and continued outreach.
