MOULTRIE – The Moultrie MG’s traveled to Panama City Beach, FL, to compete in the 20th annual Edgewater Classic gymnastics invitational. The competition hosted over 1,000 gymnasts from 10 states.
The Xcel Silver team competed in the Friday afternoon session. They placed 2nd with a team score of 111.40. This gave them an average score of 9.30. Our top scorer was Katie Poblete Morris in age Group B. She placed 3rd in the All Around with a score of 36.7. Katie tied for 4th on vault, 9.0, 4th on bars, 9.1, and 1st on floor, 9.4.
Also in age Group B was Whitley Bozeman, who placed 7th in the AA with a score of 35.3. She placed 2nd on beam with a score of 9.4.
Olivia Eubanks, in age Group A, placed 2nd in the AA with a score of 36.275. She placed 1st on vault, 9.375, 4th on beam, 9.3 (personal best), and 5th on floor, 8.775.
Katie Goble, also in age Group A, placed 6th in the AA with a score of 35.3. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.075 (personal best), and 5th on beam, 9.175 (personal best).
Lexi Miller, in age Group A, placed 8th in the AA with a score of 34.75. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.1 and 3rd on floor, 8.925.
Jaceleigh Smithwick, in age Group C, tied for 4th in the AA with a score of 36.325. She placed 3rd on beam, 9.375 and 2nd on floor, 9.125.
Alyssa Howell, in age Group C, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 35.575. She tied for 4th on bars with a score of 9.175.
Allegra Porteus, in age Group D, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 35.475. She placed 4th on vault, 9.175 and had a personal best on beam with a score of 9.025.
Melanie Lopez, in age Group D, placed 8th in the AA with a score of 35.225. She had a personal best on vault, 8.7 and placed 6th on bars, 9.1.
Brantlee Majors, in age Group D, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 35.175. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.25 (personal best), 6th on beam, 9.125 (personal best).
Naomi De La Cruz, in age Group F, placed 6th in the AA with a score of 36.075. She tied for 3rd on vault with a score of 9.6 giving her a personal best.
The level 6 team competed on Sunday morning.
“I am very proud of their performance in Panama City. We still have some work to do but they are on the right path. We will go back and work hard on fixing our skills and bringing our scores up by the Savannah meet in two weeks,” said Coach Dawn Harvell.
Eliza Jane Reagan, in age Group B, placed 6th in the AA with a score of 34.325. She placed 3rd on vault, 8.75 and 5th on beam, 8.85.
Kayla Scroggins, in age Group D, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 32.45. She placed 1st on vault, 8.85 and had a very nice floor routine earning her a score of 9.05.
Nataleigh Bryant, age Group C, placed 8th in the AA with a score of 32.4. She tied for 3rd on vault, 8.75 and received an 8.975 for her floor routine.
The Xcel Gold team competed in the third session on Sunday.
Leading the team in age group C was Julianne Carson, who placed 8th in the AA with a 34.9. She placed 5th on bars, 9.075 (personal best) and had a personal best on beam with a score of 8.6.
Ava Solanki, age Group B, placed 5th in the AA with a score of 34.825. She placed 4th on bars, 9.2 and scored a 9.05 for her floor routine.
Iella Key, in age Group G, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 34.15. She placed 3rd on vault, 8.825 and had a personal best on floor with a score of 9.0.
Kinsley Kelley, age Group D, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 31.8. She scored an 8.525 on floor.
“The girls have shown growth on some events which is great to see, I am hoping by the Savannah meet we will see growth in all events,” said Coach Becky Reagan.
The Level 4 team was the next to the last session on Monday.
“They have been working extremely hard to improve their skills and form. I feel like they are getting there, you can see it at practice. The Savannah meet in two weeks will show how much better they are getting on their form. They are looking forward to scoring higher and getting more awards,” said Coach Dawn Harvell.
Leading our team was Joselyn Juarez, age Group D, who placed 6th in the AA with a score of 34.625. She placed 3rd on vault, 8.8 and 4th on beam, 8.925.
Lylah Anderson, age Group C, placed 5th in the AA with a score of 34.6. She placed 1st on floor, 9.025 and had a very nice bar routine earning her an 8.75.
Kenya Poblete Morris, age Group B, placed 11th in the AA with a score of 32.45. She scored an 8.3 on beam and an 8.25 on floor.
In the very last session on Monday night the Xcel Bronze competed.
“These girls are very competitive and they showed it at the meet. They had nine personal bests and one MG record was broken. This group we feel is going far,” said Harvell.
The team leader was Libby Parish, age Group H, who placed 1st in the AA with a score of 38.3. She placed 4th on vault, 9.5, 4th on bars, 9.5, 1st on beam, 9.725 (MG Record and personal best), and 1st on floor, 9.575.
Maggie Bozeman, age Group H, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 36.775. She placed 7th on vault, 9.3, 7th on bars, 9.2, and 6th on floor, 9.325.
Sofia Molina, age Group G, placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.775. She placed 6th on vault, 9.2, tied for 5th on bars, 9.1, and 3rd on floor, 9.475.
Josie Bozeman, age Group G, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 36.6. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.425, tied for 5th on bars, 9.1 and 6th on floor, 9.15.
Evelyn Strayer, age Group G, placed 10th in the AA with a score of 34.925. She had a personal best on vault (8.8) and floor (8.975).
Leila Garner, age Group B, placed 10th in the AA with a score of 36.025. She had a personal best on vault, 8.9, placed 5th on beam, 9.225 (personal best), and 3rd on floor, 9.1.
Caitlin Camacho, age Group C, placed 9th in the AA with a score of 35.7 (personal best). She had a personal best on vault, 8.75 and bars, 8.7. She placed 5th on beam, 9.35 (personal best) and 6th on floor, 8.9.
