A Cumberland County woman told police a Lake Tansi area man owed her money so she simply took the matter into her own hands … she broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole his stuff.
Tonya Sue Fish, 48, Al Goss Rd., is charged with auto burglary and theft of property of up to $1,000 in connection with the incident that took place Monday morning at a Natchez Trace location.
Fish was booked at the Justice Center and placed under $7,500 bond with a tentative court date of Sept. 9 set.
Lake Tansi Police Ptl. Thomas Petrovick wrote in his report he was dispatched shortly before 10:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of Natchez Trace where he met with Taylan S. Farris, Cherry Branch Loop/Natchez Trace addresses, who reported his 2001 Ford F150 pickup had been broken into and several hand tools, car parts and other items taken.
A witness was also present who and the officer he saw the burglary take place, identifying the suspect. Farris told police he wanted to prosecute the suspect.
Fish was still at the scene, standing near the pickup truck. When asked where the property she her in her possession, Fish told Petrovick Farris owed her money and “so she decided to come and take the belonging to recoup some of her money.”
Fish was taken to the Justice Center and later released pending an appearance in court.
