TRAVERSE CITY — Deputies are investigating a possible assault along a trail on Sunday.
A 20-year-old Traverse City woman reported being assaulted by a man on the Miller Creek Nature Reserve trail system around 6:30 a.m. behind ALDI’s in Garfield Township.
The woman reportedly told deputies that the man grabbed her from behind and she used pepper spray to “deter the man” and fled the area.
She described the man as 6 feet tall, with a dark complexion, a reddish beard and wearing a sky blue shirt and acid washed jeans, a Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office information release said.
Deputies searched the area on foot, deployed a drone and checked area surveillance without success.
Additional patrols in the area are occurring and the investigation is on-going, the release said.
