The annual Bass Rocks men’s tennis doubles tournament was held this past weekend with a dozen teams competing across two flights.
In the extreme heat, Chris Baker and Ben Herbert were crowned A Flight champions by defeating a worthy duo in Michael Butter and Phil Muller, 6-2, 6-1. Baker and Herbert had topped Caleb Willett and Mike Berkley in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in their semifinal clash, while Butter and Muller punched their ticket to the championship with a hard fought 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) triumph over Jon Gistis and Jeff Lang.
Thierry Guedj and Sagar Keik then took the B flight title with a similar 6-2, 6-1 result over Frank Previte and Chris Neubert.
In the A flight consolation round, the tandem of Noel Tripp and Lyle Tripp came out on top, defeating the father/son duo of Paul Greeke and Matt Greeke in a pro-set, 10-2. Paul Coz and and Joe Willwerth won the B flight consolation finals over David Cluett and David Young, 10-6.
