WILSON — For the past two weeks, Spanish and French Level 5 students at Wilson High School have been presenting their final projects in order to earn the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, or the NYSSB.
In this rigorous program offered by the New York State Office of Bilingual Education, students are required to maintain a grade average of 85 or higher in 11th and 12th grade English, score at least 80 on the English Regents exam, maintain a grade average of 85 or higher in a college-level World Language class, and complete a culminating project that scores in the proficient range.
These students earned the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish: Aleena Adamczyk, Colton Frerichs, Alexander Gentile, Keegan Herrmann, Ella Ingwersen, Madelynne Jowdy, Ava Mielke, Parker Milley, Kamryn Myers, Emily Phillips, Riley Robinson, Marisa Schultz, Jessica Spatorico, Benjamin Vanderlinden and Austin Woodward.
These students earned the Seal of Biliteracy in French: Stephanie Atlas, Isabella Behnke, Emily Shackelford and Lillie Wilson.
Paul Gast earned the seals of Biliteracy in both French and Spanish.
They’ll all receive medals when they graduate, as well as a special seal on their diplomas and transcripts.
