AMESBURY — After a long hiatus, the Whittier Home is opening its doors on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. to welcome many holiday revelers to the Home at 86 Friend St. on John Greenleaf Whittier’s birthday.
The event is free to the public, no reservations required. There will be food and drink, and live classical music by guitarist Mark Young. Excerpts from Whittier’s “Snow Bound” will be read out loud at 2 and 3 p.m.
The Amesbury Hat Museum located on the second floor of the Whittier Home will also be open for viewing the spectacular and stunning hats, all made at the Amesbury Hat Factory. There will also be raffle prizes. While there pick yp Christmas gifts from the gift shop. Wrapping free of charge.
Please note that there is no parking in front of the Home on Friend Street but there is parking along the fence on Picard Street, in the Holy Family Parish lot on Pleasant Street, and in the Jutras Funeral home lot farther west on Friend Street provided that they aren’t busy that day.
