Whitfield County Schools’ proposed budget for the 2025 fiscal year is scheduled to be presented during the Whitfield County Board of Education’s monthly meeting Monday.
The board members will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the district office at 3264 Cleveland Highway. The meeting is open to the public. The 2025 fiscal year begins July 1.
Time will be set aside so members of the public can ask questions and/or make comments. The board members ask that all comments be limited to three minutes.
The fiscal year 2025 proposed budget presentation will be the first of two, with the second at a special called meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the district office.
Monday’s meeting will also feature words of inspiration from Cynthia Diaz, a 2024 graduate of Phoenix High School who was recently hired by the system to teach in the Northwest Georgia College & Career Academy’s Intensive English Academy while attending Dalton State College this fall.
Superintendent Mike Ewton will provide the superintendent report, while Chief Financial Officer Kelly Coon will give an overview and updates on finances.
Deputy Superintendent Karey Wiliams is scheduled to provide teaching and learning updates, while Chief Operations Officer Mark Gibson is set to provide operational updates.
The board members are also expected to vote on:
— Purchase orders totaling more than $25,000.
— A contract renewal with Soliant Health LLC for staffing services.
— A contract amendment with Excel Therapy Services for staffing services.
— A contract renewal with Qualified Staffing for staffing services.
— A contract amendment with American Facility Services for custodial services.
— A contract with UniFirst Uniforms for maintenance and transportation uniforms and shop towels.
— A contract with Massey Services for pest control services.
— A risk management services renewal with the Georgia School Boards Association.
— Stormwater facility maintenance agreements for Southeast Whitfield High School and Northwest Whitfield High School regarding new athletic facilities.
