It’s not often that Aurora Borealis, commonly known as the Northern Lights, venture as far south as Tennessee. But when they do, they put on a spectacular show.
Cosby Stone was able to capture the green and magenta hues as they danced across the sky at his home in Homestead on Veterans Day.
While most common in locales close to the North Pole, the Northern Lights ventured as far south last week as Alabama and Florida, according to The New York Times.
A strong geomagnetic storm was the reason for last week’s rare glimpses, The Times reported.
These brilliant visitors got a good dose of Southern hospitality with skywatchers capturing their images and posting them on social media.
