Mayor Anne Welch, Trustee Victor Eydt, and newcomer Rob Nichols were victorious at the Village of Lewiston Republican caucus held Wednesday at village hall.
Welch ran unopposed, while Eydt and Nichols secured nominations over incumbent Trustee Tina Coppins.
Nichols, a retired vice president at M&T Bank, points to his professional background and nearly two decades of local volunteer service with the Lewiston Kiwanis Club and the Lewiston Lions Club as key qualifications for office ahead of the June 16 election.
“I’m honored to have earned the support of Village of Lewiston Republicans at tonight’s caucus,” said Nichols. “In the coming weeks, I look forward to continuing the conversation with residents throughout the Village.”
Welch and Eydt, deputy mayor, emphasized their experience and longstanding commitment to the village.
“Over the past eight years, we have led numerous significant projects, including the sale and restoration of the historic Frontier House,” Welch said.
Eydt added, “The restoration and redevelopment of the waterfront, along with improvements to all village parks — highlighted by the new pavilion at Academy Park and the Marilyn Toohey Park All-Inclusive Playground — are achievements we are proud to have delivered for the community.”
Nichols said in the coming weeks, he, Welch and Eydt will be walking the village to meet with residents to share their visions for the village and hear their ideas.
