Pingree 9, Proctor 7: Connor O’Neil wound up with four goals while Henry Card had three plus one assist to give the Highlanders (6-1) their sixth consecutive victory. Quinn Donovan and Nick Donovan each added a goal and an assist for Pingree, which received eight saves from goalie Max Becker and 13-out-of-20 faceoffs won from Finley McClintock.
GIRLS LACROSSE
North Reading 8, Essex Tech 7: Sydney Mace potted three goals and Janelle Dalton added two as the Hawks lost a nailbiter on the road. Makayla Downing finished with a goal and one assist; Gabby Adie also had one goal; and Morgan Costa dished out on assist.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Brookline 3, St. John’s Prep 0: The Eagles (now 4-3) were swept in straight sets by the state’s No. 1 ranked team.
MEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Nichols 3, Endicott 1: The third-seeded Gulls won the third set to keep their hopes of winning the NEVC title alive, but were closed out by the Bison 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20 to end their season at 14-12. Jack Laborde’s 13 kills paced Endicott’s offense while Aidan Iacovelli had 11. Dan Battista played well defensively with 18 digs and Matty Tiernad handed out 31 assists.
Endicott 3, SUNY Potsdam 0: In the NEVC semifinals, the Gulls reversed a regular season setback against the Bears by claiming a 25-14, 27-25, 25-20 win on Saturday. Jack Laborde (16 kills, 7 digs) led the way offensively while Beverly’s Corey Klass Jr. had nine kills, including the game-clincher. Jackson Gray and Aidan Iacovelli each had eight kills and Matty Tirenan had 37 assists.
MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE
Endicott 20, Wentworth 5: The Gulls smashed their way through a Senior Day victory by scoring six goals in the second quarter and tacking on eight more in the third to take an insurmountable lead. Thomas Barker had a goal and scooped an incredible 17 ground balls for the victors. Nick Graap (5 goals, 3 assists) and Matt Wright (5 goals) were the top marksmen for Endicott (10-3, 7-0 CNE), with goalie Christopher Tillotson stopping 16 shots in the first half before giving way to backups Teagan Alexander (2 saves) and Zachary Licavoli over the final 30 minutes.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE
Endicott 21, Wentworth 1: Goalies Payton Quirk and Emma Budke needed to make just three saves between them as the Gulls (10-3 overall, 6-0 CNE) won in a romp. Bailey Sheehan spearheaded the offense with five goals and two assists for Endicott, which saw a dozen players record goals and 13 total pick up at least one point on the day.
Suffolk 18, Gordon 15: Caroline Piorkowski was stellar in scoring seven goals and adding a pair of assists, but the Scots’ (1-12) best effort just came up short. Kaitlyn Mini (3 goals, 3 assists) and Brooke Roberti (2 goals, 1 assist) also helped spark the offense while goaltender Kayla Davidson turned aside a dozen shots.
MEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS
Salem State 6, Vermont State Castleton 3: The doubles teams of Quentin Wilkins and Mark Wood (8-0) as well as Michael Muttiah and Josh Gruber (8-3) started the proceedings off right for the Vikings (now 2-2). Singles triumphs then came off the strings of Wilkins at first singles (6-1, 6-2), Wood at second singles (6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4), Kevin Merino-Rivas playing at No. 5 (6-2, 7-5), and Muttiah at sixth singles (8-5).
Roger Williams 4, Gordon 3: The Scots took home singles victories from Jeffrey Bodner (6-1, 6-3) at No. 1, Vittal Harith (7-5, 6-1) at No. 2, and Carleton Reister (1-6, 7-6 11-9) at No. 6 for their three points.
