GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Generals go 1-2: Hamilton-Wenham won the first of perhaps a few championships this fall at Wrentham Development Center Saturday when Grace Rich won the individual title in 18:37 followed by Asa Labell in second in 18:53. Talia Labell came in fourth in the field of 61 (19:50) and the Generals’ 48 team points topped Newburyport’s 60 for the team title. Annaliese Bubar ran 19th (21:58) and Anna Regan was 24th in 22:35.
Waters leads Hawks: Essex Tech was paced at the CAL meet by Emily Waters, who had an impressive seventh place finish in 20:13. Annaliese Albers came in 17th (21:43) and Megan Eaton was 20th (22:02) and the Hawks finished in third place among the nine teams.
Tigers compete: All five Ipswich runners at the CAL championship had personal best times led by Annabelle Ma in 23:26. Jasmine Ma also knocked 33 seconds off her time from the 2024 CAL title meet in a solid showing.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Depth carries H-W: Hamilton-Wenham’s boys had three in the top ten and four in the top 14 at the Cape Ann League championship to narrowly edge Newburyport by two points (49-51) for the team championship. Cole Regan was the runner-up in 16:25 with Seth Glidden fifth (16:34), Ryan Regan tenth (16:59) and Alden LaPointe 14th in 17:20. Malcolm Sprague (17:26) also finished in the top 20 out of 73 runners and Thomas Digris was 27th.
Jones paces Tigers: Senior Ryan Jones earned a CAL all-star nod by finishing in 15th overall with a time of 17:21 to pace the Tigers’ seventh place team finish. Alex Young clocked 18:29 for Ipswich and Benji Lochtefeld ran 19:04.
Hawks eighth: Essex Tech finished eighth as a team at the CAL championship with Luke Emberley leading the way in 17th place (17:26). Charlie Rowe came in 26th (17:54) and Myles Hinchcliffe clocked a 19:29 on the 5K course.
BOYS SOCCER
Beverly 4, Chelmsford 0: Senior captain Daniel Silva netted a pair of goals and Adam Porcello posted a shutout for the Panthers (15-1). Senior Dino Berbic had the game-winner, senior captain Thomas O’Neill also scored, and assists were earned by junior Connor Sullivan (2), captain Jordan Lacirignola and sophomore Isaac Esquincalnha.
Marblehead 1, North Andover 0: Goaltender Matias Watts-Cruz turned in his ninth shutout of the season after stopping two shots to propel the Magicians (now 11-4-1) to a satisfying non-league win on their home turf Saturday night. TJ Kelly had the Marblehead goal, with fellow center back Adam Laughlin also having a great game.
Peabody 1, Billerica 1: A second half goal by Jason Decost provided the equalizer for Peabody, which extended its late season unbeaten streak to three matches. Arthur Rocha, Thad Broughton, Marshal Simpson and Jayden Lopez excelled for the Tanners in a hard fought battle.
Danvers 1, Rockport 1: The Falcons (7-7-3) earned a hard fought point against one of the state’s top Division 5 programs at Deering Stadium.
GIRLS SOCCER
Pingree 7, Wheeler 0: Emma Gilpin and Finley Goodrich each had two goals and an assist to pace Pingree (11-3-1) in a bounce back win. Andi Ferry had a multi-point showing while Kayla Smyrnios and Isla Cleveland also scored. Lizzie Landgren earned two assists and Julia Bradley played well in net for the shutout.
Marblehead 1, Lynnfield 1: Sadie Halpern scored her first goal of the season and Lily Heller came on in net and stoned the Pioneers after starter Hailey Gilmore (five saves) was forced to leave to get stitches after a collision. Call up Izzie Gonzalez got her first assist on the goal and Marblehead (11-1-4) played a gutsy game to earn the point with a rash of injuries, coach Lisa Wales said.
Bishop Feehan 6, Danvers 1: Senior Lila Doucette scored her 11th goal of the season on a penalty kick but the Falcons (9-6-2) had a tough opening 20 minutes against one of the top five teams in D1. Senior captain Addi McCarty has a fantastic game in the middle of the field and sophomore wing, Maddie Hannas was tremendous on the attack. Danvers also got strong play from senior back Sabina Sturgeon and sophomore midfielder Kaia Glover.
FIELD HOCKEY
Pingree 5, Wheeler 0: Senior Lucy Bush notched a hat trick while goaltender Piper Davekos stopped all five shots she encountered as the Highlanders climbed to 10-4-1. Alexa Blaeser added one goal and one assist, Tatum White also scored once, and additional assists were credited to Sara Graves, Lucia Rinaldi and Neely Payne.
Bedford 7, Peabody 0: A road setback in their season finale saw the Tanners end up with a 3-15 record this fall.
Monomoy 7, Swampscott 0: The Big Blue, who got eight saves from Lilah Caplan, ended their regular season 6-10-2 after a loss to the state’s top ranked team in Division 4.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Endicott 56, Nichols 3: Freshman Bryan Ferreria ran wild for the Gulls (6-1), going off for a program record 247 yards and four touchdowns on just 13 carries, including scoring runs of 50 and 64 yards in the second half. Markys Bridgewater also scored twice on the ground as well as taking a kick back 90 yards to the house. Endicott had 515 yards of total offense, 372 in the running game, while holding Nichols to just 211 and leading 35-0 by halftime.

Salem State 7, MCLA 1: Iago De Sousa-Vieira’s hat trick powered the Vikings (8-3-6 overall), who have dropped just one match in MASCAC play.
Endicott 1, Gordon 0: Ethan Nunes broke the scoreless tie with just under five minutes to play and Ethan Harrison stopped all ten shots he saw to send the Gulls (8-7-2) to a thrilling win. Gordon (also 8-7-2) got four saves from Riley Calemmo.

Endicott 2, Gordon 0: Lily Miller converted a penalty kick in the 16th minute, shortly after Samantha Klimas opened the scoring, and Endicott (10-7-1) continued its rise up the CNE standings. Samantha MacCormack of Danvers earned another shutout for the Gulls and Gordon (4-9-4) got a three save performance from Ivy Daniel.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Endicott 3, Suffolk 0: Hannah Maguire ran the show for Endicott (12-10) with 30 assists and the result was a home sweep. Ava Grace Dresbeck led the attack with 10 kills and Abby Downs had a team-best 12 digs.
MCLA 3, Salem State 1: Presley Shairs had 16 kills and the Vikings (9-11) fell just two points shy of forcing a tiebreaking fifth set (26-28). Arianna Barrows also had a strong game at the net, totaling 11 kills.
Gordon splits: The Fighting Scots (16-8) played a pair of five setters against MASCAC foes, beating Framingham State and falling to Plymouth State. Haley Hutzler had 39 kills between the ten sets, Annie Zimmerman had a total of 39 digs and Annika Schmitt had a single match Gordon all-time record of 64 assists in the win over FSU.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
Endicott 5, Johnson & Wales 0: Lily Johnson and Maddy Dengler scored two goals each and Tori Swanson added to her career record total with her 21st goal of the season as the No. 8 nationally ranked Gulls (17-1) won their 17th consecutive game.
Worcester State 4, Salem State 2: Bishop Fenwick grad Grace Morey had a goal and an assist for the Vikings (5-10), who also got a score from Mikayla Talbot and a busy effort in net from Izzy Mosley with 15 saves.
Nichols 3, Gordon 0: The Scots (2-17) were outshot 31-2 and got 17 saves from always stout goaltender Allyson Stauffer.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS
Endicott 7, Saint Joseph (Conn) 0: The Gulls (7-6) swept their final tune-up before next week’s CNE playoffs with singles wins by Emilu Leclerc (6-0, 1-6, 6-4), Caroline Sutliffe (6-2, 6-1), Nadia Uzelac (6-1, 6-2), Milana Montini (6-1, 6-0), Abbey Fleming (6-2, 6-4) and Julia Rocker (6-0, 6-0).
