GIRLS LACROSSE
Beverly 17, Fenwick 3: The Panthers (8-3) spread the wealth in an impressive non-league win. Lily Shea scored seven times to lead the charge, Joselyn Silva had three scores and two assists, Lauren Caley added a hat trick and Cameron Koloski, Samantha Sprissler and Sasha Miller all had a goal and an assist each. Emily Baddershall added a tally and Madeline Reynolds made seven saves.
Hamilton-Wenham 17, Georgetown 6: Evie Bernard scored five times and controlled 12 draws and Avery Nistl and Laura Sabo both netted hat tricks to power the Generals (3-1). Stewart Bernard added a goal with two assists, Jane Boardman netted a pair and Grace Glidden, Claire Veenema and Libby Pollard had one apiece. Defensively, Lucy Ayers, Maddie Graber, Ava Shultz, and Hailey Ireland were outstanding and Ava Vatour tallied nine saves.
Pingree 9, Rivers 9: Waters Lloyd had four goals with one assist and won eight draws in a great afternoon for the Highlanders. Isla Cleveland scored twice and won two draws while Aby Amigo made six saves.
BOYS LACROSSE
St. John’s Prep 14, Billerica 8: Drew Bossi turned in a career performance as the junior attack scored four goals and added five assists to help keep the Eagles (8-0) unbeaten. Owen Williamson, Nick Schibli and Ryan DeLucia excelled in the defensive end while Jack Doherty and Will Crawford teamed up to win 21-of-24 draws at the faceoff X. Cam McCarthy added three goals, Oliver Rosselli and Ben Merena both had a goal and an assist, Jake Vana, Madden McGowan, Josh Haarmann, Luke Kelly and Crawford added single tallies, Brendan Powers dished out two assists and Jimmy Nardone one. Goalies Mattheus DuPlessis (4 saves) and Max Putney (1 save) were also solid.
Weston 14, Masconomet 9: Despite a fine showing by Owen McNally (4 goals, 2 assists), the Chieftains dropped to 3-5. Colten Russo added two goals and four assists while Colin Driscoll (2) and Miles Mireault also scored. John Miga and Mireault both had an assist, and goalies Tyller Goncalves (3 saves) and Jack Wheadon (2 saves) both saw time.
BASEBALL
Pingree 16, Wheeler 3: Nick Hubbard struck out seven over four innings and the Highlanders improved to 6-1. Drew Mullaney had a monster day at the plate with seven RBI on two doubles, Calvin Zimmerman went 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs, Jimmy Keck went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Ethan Rich and Dan Ferris each had two hits and scored twice.
Newburyport 9, Essex Tech 6 (8 innings): Cole Waterman went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple and helped the Hawks build a 6-4 lead before Newburyport tied it up at 6-6 in the seventh and then scored three in the eighth to win. Michael Pesce had two hits for Essex Tech (1-6) and Xavier Parsons scored twice while Liam Waterman fanned five in four strong innings.
Hamilton-Wenham 8, Amesbury 3: Cormac Heney went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI and Caden Schrock went 3-for-4 with three runs scored as the Generals (3-4) grabbed a key CAL win. Chris Feron struck out five to earn the win and Owen Waddell picked up a save while Alec Cote (RBI), Adam Green (RBI) and Cole Scanlon (two hits) chipped in offensively.
Beverly drops two: The Panthers (3-6) couldn’t score with the bases loaded and then saw Gloucester plate 11 runs in the 14th inning of a 17-6 loss in the resumption of their opening day game that was suspended due to darkness.
After losing at home, Beverly ventured up to Gloucester and built a 7-0 lead as Danny Pierce hit two doubles and totaled four RBI, but the Fishermen rallied to snatch a 10-9 victory. Charlie Salerno added two hits for the Panthers, Jon Reyes scored twice and Callan McCay stroked a double.
Malden Catholic 10, Bishop Fenwick 4: Chris D’Angelo went 2-for-3 with a double and Josh Scali also doubled as the Crusaders (3-5) build a 4-1 lead at home that didn’t last. Tyler Santos, Andrew McKenzie and Casare Rollo hit safely for Fenwick and Henry Vanfassen struck out five in 2 2/3 innings of work.
SOFTBALL
Gloucester 11, Masconomet 7: The Chieftains fell to 1-6 in a high scoring affair.
MEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS
Gordon 5, Wentworth 1: St. John’s Prep graduate Carleton Riester teamed with Sam Miller to win in doubles play and also won his singles match to send the No. 4 seed Scots by Wentworth in CCC playoff quarterfinal action. Ezekial Hall and Jeffrey Bodner won at first doubles and Larson Bentham’s singles win secured the match.
Endicott 5, Western New England 0: The No. 3 Gulls cruised into the CCC semi’s with a playoff win. All three doubles flights were victorious: Conrad Kadel/Antonio Marsallo, George Danes/Aaron Terpko and Julian Richtarcih/Hudson De Risi with quick singles wins by Richtarich and Oliver Pope sealing the deal.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Endicott crushes: The No. 1 ranked Gulls racked up 37 runs by picking ups their 32nd and 33rd wins of the year, 22-4 and 15-1. Endicott (33-2) had 34 hits between the two games with home runs by Danny MacDougall (2) and Brendan O’Neil. T.J. Liponis had six RBI between the two games with Jordan Gottesman throwing a complete game with 12 strikeouts to move to 9-0 in the 15-1 decision.
Salem State sweeps: The Vikings (18-13) picked up two MASCAC wins over Worcester State, 6-1 and 2-1. James Dolan singled home the go-ahead run in the sixth of the one run affair with Brock Pare (6 innings, 6 strikeouts) and Jake Boucher (save) pitching valiantly. In the nightcap, Bobby Jellison of Salem tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball and Yadbriel Gonzalez hit a double with three RBI.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Endicott splits: The Gulls (21-10) took a 4-2 loss to Suffolk before rallying to split the doubleheader with a 9-1 win. Elyse Soccoccio hit a homer and Swampscott’s Katie Watts had a double with two RBI in the victory while in Suffolk’s win, Marblehead native Jolie Quintana and Danvers’ Becky Zellin both had RBI to propel the Rams.
Salem State drops two: The Lancers of Worcester State blanked the Vikings (10-24) twice, 7-0 and 8-0. Bella Perrotti broke up the no-hit bid in the nightcap and Dawn Eisnor went 2-for-2 with a double in the first game. Katherine Quigley picked well in relief in both contests.
Gordon swept: The Scots dropped 10-0 and 8-3 decisions to Roger Williams on Sunday. Ami Rivera and Emily Graham had hits for the Scots (now 10-26) in Game 1, and Emily Peterson had two hits in the nightcap while Liahna Messier drove in Rivera with an RBI double.
On Saturday, the Scots were blanked twice by Hartford by scores of 10-0 and 9-0.
