BOYS HOCKEY
Bishop Fenwick 5, Lynn 4 (OT): Captain Chris Ferlito converted a feed from Kaiden Anastas just 70 seconds into overtime to give the Crusaders (8-12) a season ending win. Giuseppe Lepore, captain John Tavernese, Cam Garcia and Evan Diranian had the other Fenwick goals, with assists credited to Matt Martisaukas, Joe Mchalski, Doron Appleyard (his first varsity point), Jack Skinner, Noah Hammond, Ferlito and Taverense. All three of the team’s varsity goalies — Felix Langlois (5 saves), Jackson Phillips (6 saves) and Alex Anticevic (8 saves) got into the contest as well.
Pingree 4, Worcester Academy 0: Sophomore Lax Levine-Stein was perfect between the pipes with a 23-save shutout, giving the Highlanders (12-7-4) a much needed win over the Holt Conference’s first place team. Captain Danny Patch, along with Sean Foster, Bruce Danaher and Wyatt Langway, buried the goals for Pingree.
Norwell 3, Danvers 2: The Falcons scored twice in the third period to knot things up in the finals of the Newburyport Bank Tournament’s Fournier Division, but Norwell nabbed the winner with just six seconds to go. Cooper Dunham had a goal and an assist for Danvers (9-9-2), with defenseman Aiden Hockney also scoring while Drew Godfried, Owen Swanton and Colby Medeiros had the other assists. Evan Morey made 22 saves for the Blue-and-White, who finished with 41 shots of their own.
North Andover 2, Marblehead 1: Sophomore Teddy Dulac’s team-leading 11th goal, assisted by Holden Ferreira and captain Hayden Gallo, in the third period tied the contest before North Andover got the game-winner with two-and-a-half minutes to play. Senior goalie Bowden Laramie had some big stops among his 24 saves for the Headers (5-14-1).
Winthrop 5, Essex Tech 4: The Hawks finished the regular season at 11-7-2 after the hosts snapped a 4-4 tie with a third period tally. Captains Brian DeLisio and Cam Casey each had a goal and one assist; Braydon Connors and Ryan Wilson also singed the twine; and Chase Ruberti, Tyler McHugh and Liam Waterman all had assists. Logan Prifti had 18 saves between the pipes.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Ipswich 57, Winthrop 54: Rex Satter scored half of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and added five rebounds and five assists as the Tigers (13-7) captured their regular season finale before the playoffs begin. Anderson Pillis contributed 14 points, Trevor Manning had nine points, eight rebounds and played stellar defensively, and Vin Winter dished out eight assists.
Beverly 87, Everett 57: The Panthers (17-4) tuned up for the Division 1 tourney by handling the Tide behind 24 points from Jacob Klass and 21 from Eli Landman. Dom Torres added 14 points and Jordan Downey came through with 10 rebounds.
Swampscott 59, Marblehead 55: Sweeping their arch rivals in their annual two-game season series, the Big Blue got 28 points from senior captain Connor Chiarello as his team finished the regular season at 16-4. Teddy O’Neill (11 points), Cole Manning (10) and Chase Groothuis (8) added offensive balance for Swampscott, with Groothuis (3 blocked shots) and Manning also pulling down seven rebounds apiece.
Down 15-2 early and by 10 at halftime, the Magicians rallied in the second half, but too many turnovers and missing nearly half of their 28 free throws ultimately cost them the victory. Senior Cam Weaver had a team-best 16 points for Marblehead (13-7) while junior captain Finn Baron added 12.
Concord Academy 82, Pingree 68: Salem’s Jordan Maxson erupted for 51 points, scoring three-quarters of the Highlanders’ total, in a setback on their home floor.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Bishop Fenwick 59, Needham 42: Norwell Invitational MVP Celia Neilson had 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals and the Crusaders finished the regular season 15-5 with a tourney win. All-Tournament pick Caitlin Boyle added 20 points with eight rebounds and four assists.
Marblehead 40, Swampscott 33: Tess Andriano had 21 points and the Magicians (13-7) used a huge fourth quarter to take down their rivals. Lucy Macdonald and Ainsley Macdonald each scored in double figures and Nora Hailey had a great defensive game as Marblehead went man-to-man and thrived.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Bishop Fenwick 2, Gloucester 1: Senior defenseman Reagan Van Horn ripped the twine with the game-winner and freshman Reese Robillard also scored for the Crusaders (now 7-11-1). Freshman Stella Madarese made 37 saves and assists were notched by Alex Kolhami, Lexi Salah and Bella Marcinkowski.
HPNA 4, Peabody 2: The Tanners were doubled up by one of the best teams in the state and finished up the season at 4-15-1.
