MANKATO — A man is accused of breaking in to a Mankato apartment and pulling a gun on a woman, according to charges filed Monday.
Aquan Kaishaid Laurence Thornton, 22, of Mankato, faces felony burglary, domestic assault by strangulation, second-degree assault and violent threats plus a gross misdemeanor for carrying a pistol without a permit in Blue Earth County District Court.
A criminal complaint alleges Thornton pulled out the gun and threatened the woman July 9. He reportedly broke through her front door beforehand, causing the chain to rip off the wall.
He put the gun away when she told him a child was awake in the residence, the complaint said. They then went outside to the parking lot, the complaint continues, where he slashed her vehicle’s tires.
A day earlier he showed up to the residence and reportedly choked her. She told police he took her keys when he left, leading to her using the chain on the door and pushing a chair up against the door.
The complaint states Thornton traveled to Las Vegas after the incidents. A warrant is out for his arrest.
