Village elections are scheduled for noon to 9 p.m. March 19 in Barker, Middleport and Wilson. On the ballots are a series of uncontested races for village board seats that feature multiple newcomers aiming to fill seats currently held by longtime incumbents.
In Barker, a pair of village residents will be on the ballot for two open seats with two-year terms.
Incumbent trustee Val DiTommaso will be seeking re-election on the Better Barker Party ballot line and newcomer Alexzander A. Detschner is running on the Make Barker Great Again ballot line, according to Barker village clerk-treasurer Amanda Detschner.
One of the two board seats up for election was vacated by David Quiett, who resigned this past December.
The election will be held at Barker Fire Department, 1660 Quaker Road.
In Middleport, two newcomers will be on the ballot for two open seats with two-year terms. Residents Kellie LePard and Renee’ Holly-Eberhard are running on the Inspire Change and Tea Pot Hollow Voices ballot lines respectively.
Deputy mayor Thomas Conley, who has served on the village board since 1996, and trustee Dennis McAvoy, who has served on the village board since 2011, are not seeking re-election.
Middleport’s election will be held at the village hall, 24 Main St.
In Wilson, incumbent trustee Gary Darnell and newcomer Justine Seefeldt are on the Republican ballot line to fill two board seats with four-year terms, according to Wilson village deputy clerk-treasurer Nicole Martin.
Darnell secured a one-year term on the village board in the 2023 village election, on the Integrity Party line.
Incumbent trustee Brad Simpson is not seeking re-election.
Wilson’s election will be held at the town hall, 375 Lake St.
