NEWBURYPORT — The following is a list of scheduled Veterans Day activities across the area. Check with your local veterans agent for any updates.
Newburyport
The city will observe Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Veterans and their families and all residents are encouraged to join.
10:30 a.m. CVS Parking Lot, Pond Street. Organize a parade for a march to City Hall
11 a.m. Newburyport City Hall:
Invocation – Captain John Erik Berkhoudt, Newburyport Salvation Army
Pledge of Allegiance – local scouts
National anthem – Newburyport High School Marching Band under the direction of band director Steve Cohen.
Recitation of the names of recently departed veterans – Mayor Sean Reardon — memorial bells.
Veteran memories and remembrances – Kevin Hunt, Newburyport Veteran Agent
Patriotic music — Newburyport High School Marching Band.
If the weather is poor, the ceremony will be in the City Hall auditorium at 11 a.m.
11:45 a.m. (Approximately) Leave City Hall to parade around Market Square, up State Street to the Veterans Cemetery at the base of Pond Street:

Taps — Conclusion of Newburyport Veterans Day
Michael’s Harborside will host an invitation only meal for Newburyport veterans and one guest. The invitation may be used for a free meal between Nov. 11 and Nov. 25. The meal is limited to veterans by invitation only. Newburyport veterans who did not receive an invitation should call the Veterans Office at 978-462-2201.
Chococoa Baking Company at The Tannery is offering free coffee or a free drink to any veteran all day on Veterans Day.
Tuscan Sea Grill & Bar, Merrimac Street, Newburyport will offer a specially prepared meal for any veteran and a guest from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Veterans Day. Reservations are required. Call 978-465-2211 for reservations.
Amesbury
All are asked to gather at the Doughboy statue on Main Street at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for the city’s annual Veterans Day ceremony. The event is sponsored by the Amesbury American Legion, Gary Eichenlaub, commander. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Costello Center at 68 Elm St.
This year will feature a proclamation by the mayor declaring Amesbury a Purple Heart Community. All Purple Heart recipients are encouraged to attend and be recognized for their sacrifice.
Merrimac
Veterans luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Merrimac Senior Center, 100 East Main St., Merrimac. Free to Merrimac veterans and a guest at noon. Call 978-346-9549 to register.
New Old Oak Veterans Day Lunch for all active military, veterans and a guest at the New Old Oak 74 East Main St., Merrimac, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from noon to 3 p.m. This is an eat-in gathering. They will also do takeout or delivery for veterans and wives if needed. Call 978 346-9544 for take outs or delivery.
Salisbury
Participants will gather at the Town Common in front of Salisbury Public Library on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Whittier Tech
On Saturday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m., Whittier Tech at 115 Amesbury Line Road., Haverhill, will have a breakfast buffet and speakers honoring all who served. Guest speakers are Joseph Byron of Honor Flight New England and Kenneth Cyr of Angers Gift.

Blue Ocean Event Center
On Monday Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m., there will be a veterans breakfast, speakers and a resource fair at the Blue Ocean Event Center for veterans of all ages from Amesbury, Salisbury, Merrimac and Salisbury. Veterans are allowed to bring a guest. Call the Amesbury Veterans Office at 978 388-8136 or the Salisbury Council on Aging at 978-462-2412 to make reservations for this event.
