LAWRENCE — Local veterans honored late City Councilor Roger Twomey on Sunday at the Elks Lodge on Andover Street.
Twomey, 89, died in February 2020. The 15th annual veterans breakfast included pancakes, muffins, fruit, bacon, sausage, ham, coffee, juice and a variety of raffle prizes. The breakfast was free for veterans and $5 for others.
Jonathan Guzman, a 2014 Lawrence High School graduate, attends the breakfast each year in memory of classmate and fallen Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichado, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, in August 2021.
