DANVILLE — Vermilion County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking the public for help in locating a driver who fled from a stolen vehicle after flipping it Wednesday afternoon.
The scene created a social media stir, trying to figure out why there was a vehicle left overturned early Wednesday evening.
Captain Mike Hartshorn with the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department said that deputies were called to a crash with an overturned vehicle Wednesday around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Henning and Hungry Hollow roads. The Danville Police Department’s media logs indicate the vehicle hit the guardrail before it overturned.
Hartshorn said deputies “found the vehicle to be unoccupied and witnesses stated that the driver fled the scene on foot.”
The department said the vehicle’s owner called them while deputies were there stating the vehicle had just been stolen.
At this time, deputies have yet to locate the driver. They ask if you have any information to please contact them at 217-442-4080 or contact Vermilion County Crime Stoppers online at vccrimestoppers.org, using the mobile app P3TIPS, or by calling 217-446-TIPS (8477).
