VanDeMark Chemical has notified the state Department of Labor that its facility at Mill and North Transit streets will be shut down later this year.
Kyla Olsen, human resources director, said in a brief statement Monday that the company expects to halt operations in the second half of 2026. Asked about the number of employees who will be affected, Olsen referred the Union-Sun & Journal to the company’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) submission to the labor department.
Details including the number of affected employees and the beginning date of the business closure were not posted at the labor department website on Monday. The company’s WARN submission is “currently under review,” a department spokesperson stated in an email.
WIVB-TV reported that between 60 and 90 employees are affected.
