Tournament MVP Carleigh Reed scored the lone goal as the host Valor beat South Kortright/Andes, 1-0, to win the girls side of the Chic Walshe Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Davenport.
“Our defensive backs worked tirelessly to shut down the speed and pressure South Kortright continued to bring, while our goalie came up BIG when we needed her,” Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Coach Elizabeth Reed said in an email. “Our offense battled against a strong defense and an outstanding goalie, never giving up and continuing to fight for every opportunity.”
Brooke Green assisted on Reed’s game-winner with 19:21 left in the second half.
CV/S outshot SK/A, 6-2, but the Rams had a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Kennedy Quarino made five saves for SK/A.
In addition to Reed, Lexi Keator, Hayden Marino, Claire Clark and Jordan Odell made the All-Tournament Team for CV/A. They were joined by Appalonia Bushaw from Afton/Harpursville, Sylvia Brady and Abby Conroe from Worcester, and Quarino, Jaylee Kelley and Emma Sicari from SK/A.
South Kortright/Andes (5-3-1, 2-1) will play a Delaware League match at Stamford/Jefferson on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Charlotte Valley/Schenevus (6-2, 2-0) will host Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young for a non-league match Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Schenevus.

Tournament MVP Derek Land scored twice as Worcester won the Chic Walshe boys soccer title for the second straight year with a win over the host Valor.
Conner Land had a goal and an assist for the Wolverines, which also got a goal from Elijah Moore.
In addition to Land, Conner Land, Josh Head, Spencer Head and Nolan Stroosnyder made the All-Tournament Team for Worcester. They were joined by Logan Cole from Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Skylar Macintyre and Hans Stelmashuck from South Kortright/Andes, and Owen Green, P.J. Rice and Noah Pendrick from CV/S.
Worcester (7-2, 3-1) and Charlotte Valley/Schenevus (7-5, 2-2) will play again in a Tri-Valley League match Tuesday in Worcester.

Boston Quarino had a goal and an assist for the Rams, which also got a goal from Cody Hager and an assist from Ty Komosinski.

Abby Conroe and Baylee Zaengle each scored as the Wolverine beat A/H in the girls consolation game.
Lily Dorsch had an assist for Worcester, which got six saves from Zoey Griffin.
Aisley Ruff scored for A/H, which got 13 saves from Appalonia Bushaw.
Worcester outshot A/W, 16-9, and had a 6-5 advantage on corner kicks.
