Niagara Falls fire investigators are looking into the cause of a Friday night fire at a vacant home near the corner of 8th Street and Walnut Avenue.
Fire officials report that dispatchers were alerted to the fire about 11:40 p.m. by a passerby. A full assignment of Engines 4, 8, & 3, Truck 1, Rescue 1, and Car 80 responded.
Truck 1 was first on the scene and found a fully involved fire at 562 8th Street, a vacant house. Fire blanketed the entire front of the house, with fire also visible inside the structure throughout the first and second floors. Firefighters quickly deployed hoselines off of Engine 4 and began knocking down the exterior fire before ultimately heading inside to attack the interior fire.
After getting the bulk of the fire under control, firefighters needed to extensively overhaul the interior and exterior of the building to put out smaller spot fires and hot spots. Firefighters got the fire completely out and the last remaining crews were able to clear the scene by 2:15 Saturday morning.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
