The residents of a home on Upper Mountain Road were able to escape a quick-moving fire that destroyed the structure Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:20 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 1800 block of Upper Mountain Road on the Tuscarora Reservation for a structure fire.
The home’s residents were able to escape with at least two of them evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire quickly spread throughout the home. On arrival, firefighters stretched multiple handlines and began fire suppression efforts, as well as, efforts to protect neighboring structures. Fire crews utilized multiple tanker trucks and a portable pond for a water supply.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.
A number of different agencies responded to the scene including volunteer companies Lewiston No. 2, Sanborn, Upper Mountain, Lewiston No. 1 and Pekin, as well as a crew from the Niagara Falls Air Base.
