The Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation recently recognized the Upper Cumberland Community League, a fantasy football league that has turned friendly competition into meaningful charitable giving for organizations across the Upper Cumberland.
Over its first six seasons, the Upper Cumberland Community League has donated more than $10,600 to nonprofit organizations working to strengthen the region.
“We are grateful to the members of the Upper Cumberland Community League for their generosity and creativity in supporting local nonprofits,” said John Bell, CRMC Foundation executive director. “Their commitment to giving back shows how community engagement can make a real difference for people facing difficult health challenges.”
Donations to the CRMC Foundation help provide assistance to patients who may be struggling to afford essential medications, medical equipment, or transportation to critical medical appointments. Community support helps ensure patients in the Upper Cumberland receive the care and resources they need during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Founded in 2020 by Shaun Scantland, the league was created to bring together community leaders who share both a love of fantasy football and a commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations. What began as a 10-member league that raised $500 in its first season has grown into a 30-member league that contributed $3,500 this year alone.
Each season, members compete throughout the fantasy football schedule, with the league champion selecting a nonprofit organization to receive the charitable funds raised that year.
The league’s continued growth is supported by a dedicated leadership team. Tanner Cox serves as co-commissioner; Philip Clemmons serves as treasurer; and Kosta Yepifantsev serves as entertainment director, helping keep the league engaging while maintaining its focus on community impact.
Through a combination of competition, camaraderie, and generosity, the Upper Cumberland Community League continues to demonstrate how creative community engagement can generate meaningful support for organizations working every day to improve lives across the region.
