Less than two weeks remain in the winter high school sports regular season. That means opportunities for our local squads to boost their tournament seedings are dwindling.
Here’s a look at where those local teams stood when the MIAA released its latest power rankings on Friday morning. The top 32 seeds in each division will automatically qualify for the postseason, as will any other team with a .500 record or better.
Please note that team records do not include games played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
BOYS BASKETBALL Division 3
Top two seeds: Pittsfield (12-5) and Taconic (11-5)
Local team: Gloucester (No. 62 at 5-10)
Division 4
Top two seeds: Wareham (14-3) and Bourne (14-1)
Local team: Manchester Essex (No. 5 at 16-0)
Division 5
Top two seeds: Hoosac Valley (13-2) and Pioneer Valley Regional (12-4)
Local team: Rockport (No. 14 at 12-6)
GIRLS BASKETBALL Division 3
Top two seeds: Foxborough (16-1) and Medway (12-4)
