YELLOW SPRING, W.Va. — An investigation is continuing into the shooting death of a man in Hampshire County early Saturday, according to Sheriff Nathan Sions.
“This is a very delicate situation,” Sions said Sunday. “It was domestic related and there was an adult male shot and killed.”
Sions said the incident was reported to the Hampshire County 911 Center at approximately 5:30 a.m.
“The reported shooter remained on the scene and has been cooperative with our investigation,” Sions said.
Sions said the shooting occurred in the Yellow Spring area but declined to provide an exact location.
“I’m not prepared to release that yet due to protecting the identity of those involved,” Sions said.
On Saturday, Sions said the shooting was “an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.”
County emergency medical services were dispatched for a reported shooting but advised to stage away from the scene. Those units were cleared after law enforcement arrived, Sions said.
Sions said additional information would be released Monday.
