HAHIRA — A man has been taken into custody in connection with a fatality Saturday night in Hahira.
First responders were called to a home on East Lawson Street around 9 p.m. about a person who had been shot, a Facebook statement from the Hahira Police Department said.
With the help of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol, a suspect was soon taken into custody, the statement said.
Hahira Police Chief Stryde Jones identified the victim as Derrick Paul, 33, of Hahira, and the suspect as Erick Noltion, also of Hahira.
The shooting took place as the result of an argument, Jones said. Noltion is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and aggravated assault, the chief said.
The parties knew each other, the police department said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the investigation.
