Mazzie’s big year
Former Central Catholic star kicker Nick Mazzie has delivered a big year as a graduate student for FBS East Carolina University. The former UNH star has made 13 of 15 field goal attempts — including boots of 50 and 49 yards — and is a perfect 41 of 41 on extra points for the Pirates.
You can watch Mazzie and East Carolina on ESPN Saturday morning (11 a.m.), when the Pirates face the University of Pittsburgh in the Go Bowling Military Bowl, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.

Haverhill/Pentucket/North Andover girls hockey rolled the day after Christmas. Mia Kmiec and Camden Slooper each scored two goals, while single goals went to Charlotte Woodford, Taylor Bierschied, Savannah Bissonette and Kamie Locke.
Endicott offers DeMaio
Methuen star linebacker Vinny DeMaio, our 2025 Eagle-Tribune defensive Player of the Year, has picked up an offer from Endicott College football, he announced on “X.” It was an all-around huge week for DeMaio, who picked up the offer, MVP honors and won the 175-pound title at the prestigious George Bossi Memorial Lowell Holiday Tournament.
Harris honored
Boston Bruins defenseman Jordan Harris of Haverhill represented recent Northeastern Hockey players at the closing ceremony for iconic Matthews Arena earlier this month. Harris, who starred for the Huskies from 2018-22, was one of a handful of alumni that participated in the “curtain call” for the 115-year-old arena, which is set for demolition in 2026. Also part of the ceremony was longtime Andover resident and Hall of Fame Boston University coach Jack Parker.
DeCosta to Olympics
Merrimack College Hall of Famer Stéphane Da Costa has been named to France’s Olympic hockey team for the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games. He will be the second Warrior to play in the Olympics, according to Mike McMahon of themackreport.com. Karl Stollery played for Team Canada in 2018.
Da Costa starred for Merrimack from 2009-11 (30 goals in 67 games), before playing parts of four seasons with the NHL’s Ottawa Senators (2010-14, 7 goals in 47 games). He currently in his 11th season in the KHL (212 goals in 600 games). France had not qualified for the Olympics in hockey since 2002.
