Duchemin honored
Haverhill’s Matt Duchemin, a defensive back for Bentley University, took home Northeast-10 defensive Player of the Week for last week.
Duchemin, a graduate student transfer from Holy Cross, forced a critical fumble late in the fourth quarter, setting up the game-winning field goal in last Saturday’s 20-17 victory at West Chester. He finished the game with two tackles and notched 79 kick return yards.

N.H. gridiron rankings
New Hampshire Football Report (nhfootballreport.com) has announced its first Granite State Power Rankings, and three local teams made the top-10. Going into Friday’s action, Pinkerton was ranked No. 3, Salem was No. 5 and Windham was No. 10. Pelham, which won its opener, was an honorable mention.
Fry’s big contract
In case you missed it, former Eagle-Tribune football Player of the Year Pat Freiermuth earned a big payday from the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
The former Pentucket Regional and Brooks School star signed a new five-year contract worth $49.88 million, including $23.38 million guaranteed. “Muuuuth” has become a major fan favorite with Steelers fans.
Captains Corner
The high school sports fall season is now in full swing, and we at The Eagle-Tribune want to honor the area’s high school captains as part of our Captains Corner series. Coaches — or parents or the athletes themselves — who would like their captains featured are welcome to submit a photo to dwillis@eagletribune.com. Photos should have all captains featured and ideally in uniform.
One Final Thought
As Michael Muldoon used to say, “If you can bring a smile to someone’s face today, just do it!
