Goncalves sets record
Haverhill High senior track star Maddie Goncalves set a new Hillies indoor track school record with a throw of 37-8.25 at the Winter Classic Festival held at Reggie Lewis.
That shattered the previous Haverhill record of 36-9 set by Gretchen Anderson in 1995. Goncalves, a returning Eagle-Tribune All-Star, threw 37-10.5 last spring, and took second at MVCs.

Zinter is currently on the mend from a broken tibia and fibula.

Captains Corner
The spring sports season now underway, we at The Eagle-Tribune still want to honor the area’s high school captains as part of our Captains Corner series. Coaches — or parents or the athletes themselves — who would like their captains featured are welcome to submit a photo to dwillis@eagletribune.com. Photos should have all captains featured and ideally in uniform.
One Final Thought
As Michael Muldoon used to say, “If you can bring a smile to someone’s face today, just do it!
