CHaD rosters set
The rosters have been announced for the 13th Annual CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, and standouts from the Eagle-Tribune area are featured heavily on the East squad.
From Salem, running back/linebackers Kevin Todisco and Talen Walton, receiver/defensive back Calen Smith, offensive lineman Ivan Colon, running back/defensive back Felix Smith and linebacker Daniel Hughes were all selected.
Representing Division I champion Pinkerton will be running back/defensive back Jamie Isaac and receiver/defensive back Camren Dillon. For Timberlane, there will be quarterback Jeremy Mlocek.
Division II finalist Pelham will be represented by receiver/defensive back Justin Bowlan, offensive/defensive lineman Joe Ferreira, utility back Stephen MacKinnon Jr., running back/defensive back Nathan Migliore, quarterback/defensive back Nick Muise, running back/linebacker William Nicolls.
Finally, for Windham, offensive/defensive linemen Connor Belair, Robert Hamwey, Liam Shambo and Luke Sweeney, offensive lineman/linebacker Reid Lambert, quarterback/running back/defensive back Chris Brearley, running back/defensive back Ryan Doherty, quarterback/running back/defensive back Jack Koutrobis and utility back/defensive back Cameron Williams were selected.
The game will be played on June 27 at Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.)
Kwakye offered
Two-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star Methuen running back/receiver/defensive back/kick returner Josh Kwakye has been offered by Curry College football, he announced on “X” this week. This past fall, Kwakye rushed for 478 yards and six TDs and added 26 tackles and an interception. A standout in track, Kwakye ranks No. 3 all-time in our area in the 100-meter dash (10.71).
Getchell to PSU
Central Catholic’s Matthew Getchell will play college football at Plymouth State, he announced on “X” this week. He saw time at quarterback and receiver for the Raiders, then this winter led Central’s student fan section — “The Red Sea” — dresses as Moses.
Bridgewater honored
Former Central Catholic star Markys Bridgewater was honored as Endicott College offensive Player of the Day this week, as the Gulls take part in spring football workouts. Last fall as a sophomore, the running back rushed for 338 yards and a touchdown.
Devers and Ks
Red Sox star Rafael Devers struck out 15 in his first 19 at-bats this season. In 1995, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn struck out 15 times in 585 at-bats. Devers is very different than the contact-happy Gwynn was, but it’s still fascinating.
One Final Thought
As Michael Muldoon used to say, “If you can bring a smile to someone’s face today, just do it!
