Dalton couldn’t keep up with state-ranked Cedartown, dropping 44-13 to the sixth-ranked team in Class 4A.
Undefeated Cedartown (8-0, 4-0 Region 7-4A) led 7-0 late in the first quarter, but, starting with a touchdown with five seconds left in the first, put together a flurry of scores to lead 31-7 at halftime.
The lone Dalton (0-8, 0-4 Region 7-4A) score of the first half was an Isaac Summey passing touchdown to Kamdon London, a 24-yard touchdown on a trick play.
After Cedartown increased the lead to 44-7 after three, Summey was on the receiving end of a touchdown, catching a 77-yard TD pass from quarterback Caine Woods.
Woods finished with 171 passing yards, and Summey had three catches for 120.
Dalton out-passed Cedartown 195 to 109, but the Bulldogs gashed Dalton for 284 rushing yards.
Dalton is at Cass next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
