A three-run first inning proved to be the difference for the Unatego/Franklin baseball team in Thursday’s 5-2 non-league home victory over Edmeston/Morris.
Gavin Nordberg and Joe Sargent threw a combined three-hitter, with Nordberg striking out nine batters in five innings and Sargent punching out three in two.
Carter Ross went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Chase Simonds was 2-for-3 and Nordberg drove in a pair of runs.
Lorenzo Reisen finished with four strikeouts in six innings for E/M while Cameron Graham had an RBI double at the plate.
It was the second win in two days for U/F as they defeated Bainbridge-Guilford 4-1 at home on Wednesday.
Xander Johnson was dominant on the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing just three hits and no walks.
On offense, Ross was 2-for-3 with a double, Logan Kingsbury drove in two runs and Nordberg and Tristan Fairbairn had a double apiece.
Kaiden Seymour was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Bobcats and Mason Acquisto struck out five batters in six innings.
U/F (9-1) will visit Delhi on Tuesday, E/M (2-3) will host Richfield Springs on Friday and B-G (8-3) will host Sidney on Friday.
Dolgeville 8, Cooperstown 6
Cooperstown fell behind Dolgeville 7-0 in the first inning on Thursday and never recovered, dropping an 8-6 road contest.
Christian Lawson and Aaron Katz both finished with two hits and two RBI for the Hawkeyes while Elijah McCaffrey and Brody Murdock each drove in a run. Lawson finished with seven strikeouts out of the bullpen.
Cooperstown (1-2) will host Poland on Friday.

The Cooperstown golf team edged Mount Markham 162-179 in a match at Leatherstocking Golf Course on Thursday.
Brayden Sentz shot a one-over-par round of 36 to lead the Hawkeyes while Jackson Crisman shot 40, Ben Lewis carded a 42 and Thomas Hellenthal finished with a 44.
Cooperstown (3-0) will host Herkimer on Tuesday.

The Margaretville tennis team swept Roxbury in a home doubleheader on Thursday, winning both matches by a score of 5-2.
Winning in singles play in the first match for the Blue Devils were Max Siciarz, Chase Norwick, Isaac Hernandez and David Sanchez. Blake Tallman and Vasilissa Hrazanek added a win in doubles.
John DeWitt notched the lone singles victory for the Rockets.
Margaretville swept the singles matches in the second go-round, with Caden Anfimovas, Siciarz, Hernandez, Norwick and Sanchez all recording victories.
Margaretville will host Windham-Ashland-Jewett on Friday.
