The building that houses the offices of a longtime local development company is now under new ownership.
Dave Ulrich, principal of Ulrich Development Co., is selling the former M&T bank building that houses the company’s offices, 45 Main St., to local developer and financial professional Brain Yaiser of Royalton.
“Mr. Ulrich has done a phenomenal job for so many years and he has been the cornerstone to this city from a development standpoint and it’s an honor to become the new custodian for this building. I mean, this is an iconic building and I don’t take that lightly,” Yaiser said.
While Ulrich will still be around, Yaiser, 64, will base a bulk of his development and business work out of his newly acquired building.
“We’re not going to sit on our laurels here. I have my children in businesses with me, and we’re going to continue to grow,” Yaiser said. “We want to obviously look at projects one by one, and if they make sense, we will move on them.”
Yaiser has worked in financial services since 1983 and currently works with IronBridge Wealth Counsel in addition to his own business practices. He has also worked as a developer on several Niagara County properties for approximately a decade.
Having known Yaiser for a few years, Ulrich saw him as an ideal fit to take over the building as he continues to wind down his activity in the property development world.
“Lockport is fortunate to have Brain Yaiser as a steward of one of its most iconic buildings,” Ulrich said. “Mr. Yaiser brings a dynamic, best-in-class attitude to our city with his 30-plus years of business acumen.”
Having acquired a space on Main Street, Yaiser said that he hopes to both see and be a part of growing development efforts for downtown efforts for future generations.
“Anything that we develop has to be something that is obviously appealing to … (younger) generations. (My children’s) way of doing business is different than the way I do business. So making sure that you can adapt from one generation to another is very, very important,” he said.
