An elderly driver and his female passenger were killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday night on Ridge Road in the town of Lockport.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office fielded several reports of a serious motor vehicle accident on the 5300 block of Ridge Road shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The operator of the vehicle, an 83-year-old man from Cheektowaga, and his sole passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Williamsville, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said preliminary investigation indicates that the man’s 2021 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling west on Ridge Road when it left the roadway on the north side, struck a culvert, and rolled over multiple times. The sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the cause.
