NEWBURYPORT — The Turkey Classic Golf Tournament returns for its sixth year Saturday, Nov. 1, at Apple Hill Golf Course in East Kingston, New Hampshire. This year, Blanchette Homes is directly partnering with the Port Youth & Rec Foundation, a nonprofit supporting children and families through programs and initiatives run by Newburyport Recreation and Youth Services.
What began in 2020 as a small community gathering has grown into a beloved fall tradition, bringing together golfers, sponsors, and neighbors in the spirit of giving. Proceeds from the tournament help families “put a turkey on the table” for the holidays, while also funding youth programs, recreation opportunities, prevention initiatives, and family supports that strengthen the community year-round.
“The Turkey Classic has always been about more than golf,” said Kim Hutchins, Port Youth & Rec Foundation president.
“It’s about community — people coming together to make sure families feel supported, children have opportunities they deserve, and no one goes without a holiday meal.”
8:30 a.m. – Registration with hot cider and donuts.
10 a.m. – Shotgun start.
On-course contests: long drive, closest-to-the-pin, and putting challenges.
Raffles, prizes, and the coveted Orange Jackets for the winning team.
Lunch provided by Metzy’s Food Truck.
Since its founding, the Turkey Classic has raised more than $50,000 for families and nonprofits across Greater Newburyport and the Merrimack Valley. Each year, the event grows not just in size, but in the impact it makes — filling tables, lifting spirits, and strengthening community connections.
