GIRLS BASKETBALL
Hamilton-Wenham 50, Amesbury 47: Grace Harres had a game-best 17 points and the Generals (5-1) used a 7-0 second quarter run to take the lead for good. Sadie Gamber scored eight with a couple of long bombs while Gabriella Jewett sparked the defense and also scored seven.
Beverly 51, Malden 30: Infinity Burns just missed a triple double with 13 rebounds, 10 steals and eight points and Anna Fertonani led Beverly (2-4) in the scoring column with 14 points plus six assists. Gwen Jones added a dozen points and Anna Michaud had seven boards, four swipes and six points in the win.
Swampscott 57, Lynn Tech 31: Freshman Anna Kanders scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds and the Big Blue (4-3) pulled away in the second half. Cecilia Tripp scored 10 with four assists and six rebounds and Sam Ward chipped in six boards and five assists.
Lynnfield 36, Essex Tech: Thais Dos Santos had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds but the Hawks (2-4) dropped a defensive struggle on the road. Mia Martinez added six points and Marissa Perez netted four.
Malden Catholic 46, Bishop Fenwick 41: The Crusaders dipped to 4-2 with a hard fought contest at home.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynn Classical 69, Swampscott 59: Teddy O’Neill had 25 points and the Big Blue (5-1) made a second half charge after falling behind late in the first half. Connor Chiarello also scored 17 for Swampscott.
Rockport 58, Ipswich 44: The Tigers (now 1-4) fell victim to a Rockport squad that hit a barrage of three-pointers in the third quarter to pull away for the win. James Norris had 10 of his 12 points in the second half to lead Ipswich while grabbing nine rebounds as well. Rex Satter was also in double figures with 11 points in addition to seven assists, while Trevor Manning added seven points.
Catholic Memorial 76, St. John’s Prep 65: The Eagles saw captain Dawagner De Los Santos score 16 points and Marcus Maglione add 13 in a tight battle with their Catholic Conference rivals. Both Brian Norton (11 points) and Quinn Stockman (10 points) canned a pair of three-pointers.
SWIMMING
Bishop Fenwick 72 St. Mary’s Lynn 71: The Crusaders took first place in eight of 11 events to win their first dual meet of the season. Caroline Blatchford won both the 200 IM (2:25.77) and 100 backstroke (1:07.94) while senior captain Hannah Ryan was also a double winner in the 200 freestyle (2:11.97) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.34). Other winners included freshman Riley Mortin in the 100 butterfly (1:36.78), senior Audrey Frick in the 500 free (9:17), the 200 medley relay team of Morin, Ryan, Blatchford and Frick (2:23.35), and the 400 free relay quartet of senior Courtney McKenzie, Morin, Ryan and Blatchford (4:56.66).
WOMEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Endicott 5, Bowdoin 3: Rivers Morris scored twice and Teaghan Hall had a goal plus an assist as the Gulls (10-4) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and handed the No. 11 ranked Polar Bears their first loss of the season. Maddie DiNardo of Topsfield also scored, as did Ella Rago, and Casey Mortiz made 16 saves.
Salem State 2, Anna Maria 0: Cassandra Valentine posted a 33 save shutout and Hailey Stanek’s last first period goal stood up as the winner for SSU (5-9). Ipswich native Halle Greenleaf netted an empty netter as well.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Gordon 78, Suffolk 61: Ami Rivera led four Scots in double figures with 16 points and Gordon (4-8) held the Rams to 15 first half points to earn its first CNE win of the season. Sophie Peters had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Endicott 58, UNE 50: Sarah Dempsey had a huge night with 30 points and 15 rebounds, including going 13-of-18 from the free throw line, and Endicott improved to 9-3 and remained unbeaten in CNE action.

Endicott 93, UNE 81: Peabody’s A.J. Forte had one of the best games of his young career with 20 points and the Gulls (7-5) won for the third time in their last four. Gloucester’s Marcus Montagino was dominant with 25 points and 15 rebounds and Jeff Hill was on fire from the floor with 27 points.
Suffolk 86, Gordon 49: The Rams blitzed their way by the Scots (5-6), who got a team-high seven points from Bryce Smith.
MEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Endicott 2, Conn. College 1: Andrew Kurapov scored the game-winner with a mere two seconds left in the first period and the Gulls (9-4) held on for a road win. Atticus Kelly stopped 27-of-28 to make the lead stand up.
