SWIMMING
Marblehead 92, Danvers 81: The Magicians had a number of swimmers earn state qualifying times en route to victory at the St. John’s Prep pool. That included the boys medley relay team of boys medley relay team of Omar Elnabarawy, Cale Nelson, Brady Leveroni and Orion Lewis (1:48.40), both Hazell Wright (a winning time of 2:05.57), Winnie Waddington (2nd place, 2:07.87) in the 200 free; Lewis in the 50 free (23.58), and Ian Chemel in the 500 free (5:21.20). The second place girls medley relay of Wright, Grace Ladouceur, Waddington and Shaelin Callahan also made the state cut.
Just missing the cut but winning their events were Elnabaraway in the 100 butterfly (59.14) and Nelson in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.20).
Danvers had a double winner in Zach Cotter as the senior captured top honors in both the 100 freestyle (52.15) and 100 backstroke (59.27). Falcons freshman Max Scott added a pair of strong second place finishes in the 500 free (5:45.53) and 100 breast (1:08.53).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Ipswich 67, North Reading 64 (OT): Down 12 points early on, the Tigers got 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists from Rex Satter as well as some key defensive stops late to prevail in overtime on their home floor. Trevor Manning added a season-high 16 points for IHS, with Anderson Pillis scoring 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Senior Vin Winter also had some key buckets as Ipswich (now 3-3) rallied in the first half to take a 31-30 lead into the break.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Amesbury 46, Essex Tech 35: Senior Avery Barteaux led the Hawks with nine points and sophomore Maria Bravim notched eight.
Newburyport 58, Hamilton-Wenham 34: The Generals ran into a hot shooting team as the Clippers made seven treys and H-W (now 3-4) didn’t help itself by missing 13 free throws.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Western New England 76, Endicott 60: Emma Shinney’s 22 points weren’t enough to help the Gulls (7-6) keep pace as a 23-9 third quarter for the Bears was the difference. Tenley Wallin also scored 15 for Endicott.
MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Endicott 73, Western New England 58: Rolling to their 12th win in 13 contests, the Gulls got 13 points from both Marcus Montagnino and, off the bench, AJ Forte to roll to another win. Max Grenert came off the pine and buried a trio of three-pointers en route to adding 11 points in the victory.
Regis 77, Gordon 73: Alex Daniel led all scorers with 24 points and Gordon (3-10) made it a one point game with 61 seconds left but couldn’t get any closer. Ryan Brooks added 15 points with six rebounds and Chiko Kalu had a career-high 10 as well.
MEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Endicott 4, Wentworth 1: Sebastian Speck scored the game-winning goal and added an assist while goalie Peter Sterling made 23 saves as the 11th ranked team in the nation, Endicott, took a road win in Everett. Noah Gibbs, Michael Casey and Payton Miller also snapped the twine for the Gulls (now 9-1-1) in the win.
