VOLLEYBALL
Peabody 3, Masconomet 1: Senior captain Lizzy Bettencourt led a balanced attack with 20 kills to help the Tanners (2-1) down the defending NEC champs. Yorna Demiri also played well with 15 assists. Cate Wettstone led the Masco attack, having a career night and leading the team in kills, aces and blocks.
Marblehead 3, Ipswich 0: The Magicians (2-1) swept the defending D4 state champs, 25-4, 25-8, 25-17. Lila Moniz (seven kills) and Greta Sachs (six) led the offense while setters Sydney DaSilva and Eva Burke tallied nine assists each. Defensively, Sydney Faris had 12 digs and added 4 aces. Penny Merry led the Tigers with eight digs and three kills.
Beverly 3, Danvers 1: The Panthers earned a hard-fought 25-14, 25-20, 21-25, 25-13 victory as Reese Kwaitek led the team with eight kills and seven aces. Lidia Miedema had eight aces and two blocks and Jane Cosmas also played well.
Swampscott 3, Winthrop 0: Senior Caitlin Cauley had four aces with 10 service points and senior captain Lila Paster had five kills, two blocks and two aces as the Big Blue swept the Vikes, 25-9, 25-7, 25-12.
Salem 3, Saugus 1: Sophomore Jenna Phelps had the best game of her career with eight kills and two aces to help the Witches earn a big conference win. Senior Captain Mia Silva dished out 24 assists and added five kills and six aces. Junior Gueladio Bah played an amazing game offensively, contributing eight kills, senior Aniya King added four kills and an ace and junior Captain Yanalis Ventura was dominant on the serve, tallying 12 aces.
GIRLS SOCCER
Lynnfield 3, Essex Tech 0: The Hawks (2-1) had one of the state’s best Division 4 teams scoreless at halftime and keeper Vittoria Valentine had a fantastic game with 11 saves. Essex Tech played very well as a team and some of the many standouts were Lucy Gaddis, Makayla Downing, Julia Kallianidis and Chloe Silva.
Hamilton-Wenham 6, Rockport 0: Bailey Shepard netted a pair of goals and Margot Bryce Morris had two scores and an assist and the Generals (3-0) cruised. Savannah Gauron and Brynn Fall also scored with assists from Maddie Graber, Lilly Giovannucci and Dusty Romiza. Sophomore Olive Bevilaqua and junior Layla Yankee combined for the shutout and senior midfielder Emily McIntosh and freshman defender Elyn Wood had strong outings.
BOYS SOCCER
Essex Tech 0, Lynnfield 0: Sophomore goalie Jackson McKinnon turned in the clean sheet for the Hawks in their stalemate. Senior captain Jordan Cheever was a big part of that while starring on defense.
St. John’s Prep 5, Catholic Memorial 0: Five different players scored for the Eagles (2-0-1): James Minor, Ryan King, Noah Lear, Breccan Curran and JJ Koulalis. Seniors Owen Beeney and Garrison Murphy each had two assists and senior keeper Matt Droggitis made six saves to record his third consecutive shutout.
FIELD HOCKEY
Marblehead 4, Peabody 1: Layla Dulac (two goals) and Zoe Dwyer (goal, assist) worked together beautifully for the Magicians, who came alive offensively in the second quarter. Chloe Rowland also scored for Marblehead and Keliana Salem earned an assist.
Tanners captain and goaltender Sophia Kassis (21 saves) blanked Marblehead in the first and third quarters, with teammates Eva Briggs (2), Bella Kassis (2) and captain Elizabeth Moore each making defensive saves. Morgan White fired a shot on net that fellow eighth grader Kelsey Kennison scored on for Peabody’s first goal of the season.
Bishop Fenwick 4, Arlington Catholic 0: Senior captain Shea Mason scored a pair of goals and Sarah Bannister made one save to earn the shutout for Fenwick (now 1-1-1). Alex Kohalmi and Sophie Cooke (2 assists) had single scores for the Crusaders, with Bella McCormack adding one helper and Mia Millett having a strong game at midfield.
Swampscott 2, Saugus 0: Lila Girard and Lia Beatrice took care of the scoring and the Big Blue earned their first win of the season. Meg Baran and Audrey Heath each had one assist while Lilah Caplan turned in a shutout for the Big Blue (now 1-1).
Gloucester 5, Danvers 0: After the first quarter, Danvers stepped it up, but could not capitalize on offensive opportunities. Liv Henry, Delia Smith, and Addie Moore all played well for the Falcons.
GOLF
Amesbury 184, Essex Tech 164: Cam Casey led the Hawks with 36 points and Trey Carchide scored 30.
Xaverian 220, St. John’s Prep 232: The Eagles (3-1) suffered their first loss despite junior Seamus O’Holleran firing a 35 at Ipswich Country Club. Teammates Cam Coppen, AJ Bodnar and Zach Enners each carded 39s.
Wilmington 37, Ipswich 35: Connor Wright, Travis Wilson and Tommy Harrington won their matches on the road while Charlie Pezza tied and Sam Harrington shot a 38 despite a narrow match defeat.
Masconomet 36, Marblehead 36: Cole Velardo of Masconomet and Ty Forbes of Marblehead halved their matches and two of the NEC’s top teams settled for a draw. Winners for Masconomet were Brendan Sheehan, Brendan O’Connor and Hayes Maher while Marblehead got triumphs from Greyson Leventhal, Will Macrina, Joy Meshulam and Dylan Whitman.

St. John’s Prep 15, St. John’s Shrewsbury 49: Race winner Jack McIntosh ran 17:05 at Bradley Palmer and the Eagles had each of the top five runners as he was followed by Liam Mahoney (17:16), Mateo DeOrio (17:25), Leo Seltenrich (17:28) and Liam Callahan (17:38). Hunter Opal also clocked 17:40.

Salem State 3, Albertus Magnus 1: Presley Shairs had 16 kills and Kailey Roche picked up 16 digs to lead the Vikings in victory.

Babson 3, Gordon 1: Nathan Starzi had the lone goal for the Fighting Scots (2-1-1).
