GIRLS LACROSSE
Ipswich 18, Danvers 2: The Tigers had 14 different goal scorers and 13 assists in their decisive victory. Halle Greenleaf and Lyla Greenleaf both had two goals and four assists in the win, with Estelle Gromko adding two goals, Lucy Winthrop a goal and three assists, and Rory Regan one goal and one assist. Jayne Krause, Jade Wilcox, Avery Brown, Keira McPartlin, Ella Stein, Lucy Donahue, Taryn Desmond and Lily Cummins each had solo tallies. The Ipswich defense got five saves from goalie Emma Paquette as well as strong play from Maddie Hanson (3 caused turnovers), Faith Hauenstein, Avery Brown, Jade Wilcox and Lucy Donahue.
Elizabeth Farrell scored her first varsity goal to highlight the day for Danvers, with Jordan Turcotte also scoring. Abigail Sullivan and Savannah Botthof each had assists, while Maddie Chase (8 saves) played the first half in net and Aundrea Gaundino (2) played in the second half.
Waring 8, Gann Academy 0: Eliza Loring scored a hat trick and one assist for the Wolfpack in their win, with Mikalia Bennett adding two goals and a pair of assists. Ella Knowles, Lyda Simpson and Dahlia Beltramini also scored for Waring, which improved to 2-1.
BOYS LACROSSE
St. John’s Prep 10, Bishop Guertin 7: Facing a powerhouse program from New Hampshire under the lights at Merrimack College, the Eagles snapped a 7-7 tie entering the fourth quarter with some stout defense and timely scoring.
Swampscott 18, Gloucester 3: Carson Palmer broke out with five goals and assist — including three first period tallies — and won nearly all of his faceoffs for the 6-0 Big Blue. Chase Russo (4 goals, assist), Jason Rothwell (3 goals, 2 assists), Liam Keaney (3 goals, 2 assists), Max Field (goal, assist), Jack Hazell and Sam Brodsky all scored for the winners, with John Von Barta (2) and Brian Giarla adding assists. Timmy Sheehan picked up the win in net, making eight saves.
Grafton 7, Ipswich 5: Missing eight varsity players, the Tigers (5-1) battled but returned home from Central Mass. with their first loss of the season. Will Gromko scored his first career goal off a steal and fast break for Ipswich, while Sam Sirois — normally a D-middie — had his first varsity snipe as well. Finn Wright, Will Harrington and Luke Wile also had goals, Harrington added an assist, and goalie Nolan Hickey stopped 11 shots.
GIRLS TRACK
Danvers 90, Salem 12: DeAnna Figueiredo (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles) and Kendall Murphy (200, high jump) both captured two events to pace the Falcons. Single wins came from teammates Delia Smith (discus), Isabella Moccia (javelin), Tess Ryan (100), Sabina Sturgeon (400), Addison Lamar (800), Arianna McNulty (mile), Bobbi Serino (2-mile), and the 4×100 relay team of Hannah Moccia, Lucy Trunfio, Gabrielle Lindeman, and Kaila McKinnon.
Peabody 73, Marblehead 63: The Tanners took the 4×400 relay to seal an exciting meet win while Makayla Kokozenis doubled up to win both the high jump and triple jump. Alessandra Forgione was first in the javelin, Stella D’Ambrosio won the 400, Mimi Batista won the 800 and Kyra Buckley topped the mile.
BOYS TRACK
Peabody 79, Marblehead 57: Double winners Evan Bedard (long jump, triple jump) and Alex Jackson (shot put, discus) helped the Tanners down the Magicians. Declan Smith was first in the high jump while Brian Stevens won the 400.
BASEBALL
Manchester Essex 4, Ipswich 2: Troy Flood went the distance with six strikeouts to send the Hornets by the Tigers, who are now 2-3.
Lynnfield 15, Essex Tech 0: Jose Pagan, Jacoby Casinelli-Tarasuik and Andrew McKenna hit safely for the Hawks (0-4).
Newburyport 8, Marblehead 1: Charlie Sachs doubled, Chris Cannuscio had an RBI single and Riley Schmitt singles and scored but the Magicians (1-3) gave up four runs in the top of the seventh in the home loss. Matt Mahan allowed only three hits over four innings for Marblehead.
Arlington Catholic 12, Bishop Fenwick 0: The Crusaders (1-3) were no-hit on the road in CCL action. Odin Garron tossed 1 1/3 relief innings and starter John Horgan scattered six hits and allowed only three earned.
SOFTBALL
Swampscott 14, Manchester Essex 4: The Big Blue rapped out 14 hits, including a 3-run homer by Hayden Haskell in the second inning, to pick up their first win. Haskell also struck out eight Hornets, while Melanie Blood didn’t allow a hit over two innings. Lauren Fahey went 3-for-4 offensively for the winners with two doubles and three RBI, and Cece O’Connor added three hits.
Concord-Carlisle 16, Beverly 12: The Panthers nearly rallied after falling behind 10-1 but couldn’t catch all the way back up. Reese Kwiatek had a solid outing, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and Riley Michael had a hit and knocked in two runs.
GIRLS TENNIS
Swampscott takes two: In a rare double header, Swampscott beat Amesbury by identical 3-2 scores. Anna Eccles won two 8-6 decisions at first singles and the doubles teams of Victoria Quagrello/Eve Bryne and twins Ava and Alexia O’Donnell both swept, 8-0.
MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE
Wentworth 11, Gordon 8: The Scots (4-9) had a two goal lead at halftime but scored just one after recess in the road loss. Jackson Wright and John Flemmi both had hat tricks for Gordon.
Endicott 26, Curry 7: With 19 goal scorers, the Gulls (13-1) destroyed Curry to remain unbeaten in conference play. Nick Graap had four goals and two assists and Tommy Tysinski also scored four times while Fenwick product Stefano Fabiano was among those that got in on the scoring party.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE
Gordon 13, Wentworth 6: Kaitlyn Mini scored six goals and Caroline Piorkowski added three goals plus two assists to give the Scots (3-12) a road win. Abbie Zorrilla contributed to the offense with a pair of goals and teammate Lilia Bailey finished with a goal and two assists. Kayla Davidson got the victory in net, stopping 11 shots.
Trinity 13, Endicott 8: Seven goals in the second half couldn’t push the Gulls (8-7) to victory. Emerson Clark (3 goals, 3 assists) and Kiana Napolitano (3 goals, 2 assists) led Endicott offensively.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Endicott 12, Suffolk 0: Nicholas Cannata (five innings) and Bradu Stuart (two) combined for 11 strikeouts and a 4-hit shutout for the No. 1 ranked Gulls (25-2). Brendan O’Neil homered and totaled four RBI for Endicott while T.J. Liponis hit a double and a triple, Danny MacDougall doubled twice and Dylan Pacheco smashed a triple.
