Beverly 2, Newburyport 1: Freshman midfielder Jackson Merritt scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining as the Northeastern Conference champions ended the regular season with a 12-4-2 overall record. Junior Daniel Silva, who gave Merritt the pass that led to the dramatic tally, had scored in the first half off a feed from sophomore Brandon Rodkey. Senior center back Owen Perry, junior Thomas O’Neil and sophomore Connor Sullivan also played well for the Orange-and-Black.
Peabody 1, Saugus 1: On Senior Night, the Tanners (6-9-3) got their goal from Kacper Kowalczyk. Inspired play came from Peabody teammates Derek Collins, Japhet Djimeli, Joaquim Nunes, Daniel De Andrade and Fabio Goulart.
GIRLS SOCCER
Bishop Fenwick 5, Malden Catholic 0: Reese Spurchise netted a hat trick with an assist and the Crusaders (7-7-3) will go to the postseason on a four game unbeaten streak. Maeve O’Donnell had a pair of assists while Callie Reed had a goal and an assist and Carlie Salvo posted one helper. Abby Jenkins played very well on the wing for Fenwick and Mia Zimmerman shined at right fullback.
Masconomet 2, Central Catholic 0: Maggie Blosser scored both goals and Evy Mills had the shutout for the Chieftains, who finished the regular season with a spectacular 17-0-1 mark, going unbeaten for the third straight year. Amanda Schneider and Riley Bovardi added assists for the winners, with Taylor Blachette, Lily Blosser and Nicole Schneider all turning in excellent performances.
VOLLEYBALL
Covenant Christian 3, Gann 0: Top-seed CCA made short work of Gann in the IGC playoff semifinals, prevailing 25-16, 25-20, 25-16. The Cougars will host either Montrose or Newman in the finals on Thursday.

UNE 2, Endicott 1: Gabrielle Klindtworth got the Gulls on the board with 11 minutes left in regulation but Endicott couldn’t find the equalizer despite putting some pressure on the rest of the way. Grace Jewett assisted the goal, Rosalina Caliri made three saves and Endicott (9-5-4) now prepares for the CNE playoffs which begin on Saturday.
Hartford 3, Gordon 0: The Hawks got two goals in the first half and another in the final five minutes to hand Gordon (8-4-5 overall) its first conference loss of the season. Emily Bengston made 10 saves for Gordon, which was outshot 20-3.
Plymouth State 6, Salem State 2: Bishop Fenwick product McKenna Gilligan of Salem made it a two goal game for the Vikings but the Panthers netted two insurance tallies to pull away. Samarah Paiva scored her first career for Salem State (4-9-3) and Lauren Wilson made a career-high five saves.

Endicott 2, University of New England 1: Fisher Mills scored a pair of goals with under seven minutes remaining, including the game-winner with 48 seconds left on the clock, to give the Gulls (12-4-2) a dramatic road victory. Goaltender Brady O’Toole made one save in net.
Gordon 0, Hartford 0: Carson Flake stopped the only shot that came his way in net for Gordon (now 6-5-7).
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
Fitchburg State 5, Salem State 1: Danvers native Grace Morey scored the first goal of the game to give Salem State a 1-0 lead but it didn’t last as the Falcons proved too much to handle the rest of the way. Izzy Mosley stopped a dozen shots for the Vikings, who are now 2-13.
