FRIENDSVILLE — A Maryland State Police trooper was injured early Friday when his patrol vehicle was struck by a pickup on Interstate 68 near the West Virginia state line, according to state police at McHenry.
Police said the unidentified trooper had been conducting an oversized vehicle escort traveling west and was attempting to turn into an emergency crossover when his marked patrol vehicle was struck by the GMC pickup, driven by a 47-year-old man, who state police did not identify in a news release.
Both the trooper and truck driver were transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Police said investigation of the 3:36 a.m. crash is continuing.
