The wait was longer than anybody would have liked, but it was well worth it.
On Tuesday night, the Triton boys basketball team got into the win column this year with a hard-fought 37-33 victory over Notre Dame Cristo Rey. There had been a couple of close calls for the Vikings so far this year, but they were able to execute down the stretch to close one out at home.
And it was a balanced scoring night, with Bryan Dos Santos hitting a 3 and leading the way with 8 points. Behind him were Mateus Pinto and Noah Bernier with 6 points, and sophomore Camden Moriarty with 5 points. The Vikings (1-11) will now look to make it two in a row when they travel over to Essex Tech on Friday night.
“It was a big team win,” said first-year Triton coach Danielle Perkins. “Sebastian Garcia and Jack Roy gave us a strong defensive look to start, and captains James Tanona and Mateus Pinto were huge on the boards. Bryan Dos Santos hit a 3 in the fourth to swing the energy in our favor, and both Camden Moriarty and Mateus hit important free throws to lock it in.”
