LAKE PLACID — Villages in Essex, Franklin and Clinton counties are preparing for village elections today that will feature two mayoral offices open but no contested races in any village.
CLINTON COUNTY
In Clinton County, three villages have elections.
The Village of Rouses Point will hold its election at the Rouses Point Civic Center, Halstead Hall, 39 Lake St., Rouses Point, from noon to 9 p.m.
Two trustee positions are on the ballot and incumbents Dale Menard and Nicholas Southwick are running unopposed for two year terms, all as independent candidates.
The Village of Champlain has mayor and two trustee offices on the ballot.
The candidates, all incumbents running unopposed, are Janet McFetridge for mayor and Kim Trombley and Nicole Molinski for the two trustee seats, all running independent.
Voting is noon to 9 p.m. at Champlain village offices, 11104 Route 9, Champlain.
The Village of Dannemora has two trustee posts and village justice up for election this year.
Running unopposed are incumbent Henry Philip Maynard Jr. for village justice and incumbents Jarrod St. Phillips and Zachery Hoyt for trustees, all running independent. Offices are all are for four-year terms.
Voting is from noon to 9 p.m. at the Community Center/Village Hall, 40 Emmons St., Dannemora.
FRANKLIN COUNTY
In Franklin County, only two villages have elections.
In the Village of Chateaugay, mayor and two trustees will be on the ballot for two-year terms.
Incumbent Matthew Clarke is running for mayor, while incumbent Donna LaBombard is seeking one of the other trustee spots, both running independent. The second trustee office has no candidate running and will be a write-in ticket.
Voting is from noon to 9 p.m. at Chateaugay village offices.
The Village of Saranac Lake has no offices up for election this year, but mayor and two trustees will be on the ballot for 2026.
The Village of Burke has one two-year trustee seat on the ballot.
Incumbent Craig Dumas is running for that post unopposed as an independent.
Voting in Burke is from noon to 8 p.m. at the Burke fire station.
The Village of Brushton reports no election this year.
ESSEX COUNTY
In Essex County, the Village of Lake Placid has four posts up for election this year.
All candidates are incumbents running unopposed for four year terms.
Art Devlin is on the ballot for mayor, and Jackie Kelly and Marc Galvin are seeking two open trustee posts, while May Chow is running for village justice. All are running independent.
The Lake Placid village election is at the North Elba Town Hall on Main Street, Lake Placid from noon to 9 p.m.
