The Town of Niagara, the Town of Niagara Lions Club and the Town of Niagara Helping Hands will join together again to honor veterans at a ceremony and luncheon at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Community Park, 7000 Joe Rotella Way. A buffet lunch will follow in the Calvin K. Richards Community Center. All Veterans are invited to attend.
There will be a presentation of colors, opening prayer and pledge, singing of the national anthem. The speaker for the event is Dr. Kristin Jacobsen, founder/president of Hands Healing Heroes.
Lion John Teixeira will also dedicate a memorial bench honoring the late Lion Angelo Onevelo.
Starbucks offering free coffee to vets
On Tuesday, veterans, active-duty service members, and military spouses can stop by participating Starbucks stores for a free tall brewed coffee — hot or iced — as a small token of appreciation.
Starbucks is also donating $200,000 — split between the USO and the Wounded Warrior Project — to help fund programs that support the health and well-being of veterans and their families.
