Gothic Ledge, Sharon Drive and Harvest Ridge Way are among the first road paving projects on the Town of Lockport’s new road work list. The list was developed by town Highway Superintendent Jim Rook, who said work will begin next week, weather cooperating.
Rook said road crews are patching potholes in preparation for projects on both sides of the town. He said some main roads that are showing heavy damage, such as South Transit and Robinson roads, are managed by the state.
“We like to get the work done before fall when the buses roll,” said Pat Dufour, deputy supervisor. Dufour said town crews try to avoid delaying school buses with active work zones.
Milling will begin Monday on Gothic Ledge and Sharon Drive, and should take about a week. Rook said milling needs to be done in sections to allow residents access into the neighborhood. Blacktopping will also include the east end of Leete Road.
Resurfacing Harvest Ridge Way is a priority since it is a heavily trafficked connector between Raymond Road and Old Beattie Avenue, Rook said. The town will not be working on the surrounding subdivision. Harvest Ridge has not been repaved in 20 years, Rook said. The street has received a long line of asphalt patching down the center to address cracking.
Lockhaven Drive, off Davison Road, will receive milling and paving, along with Badger Drive, and Snyder Drive from Shimer Drive to Hamm Road, he said.
The milling and paving project list also includes: Buell Drive and the nearby streets Jennifer Drive, Wendy Circle and Aaron Drive; Northview, Greenview and Eastview drives.
East High Street, from Ernest to Keck roads, will get an application of oil and stone this year, as will Keck Road from Route 77 to East High. Rook said this work fills in cracks and extends road life.
