VALDOSTA — ’Tis the season for Christmas tournaments. Valdosta High teams headed out on the road this week for games in different states.
The Wildcats were in the Sunshine State Basketball Explosion, taking on Florida schools North Broward Prep on Thursday and Coral Springs on Friday.
The Lady ‘Cats were a little closer to home at the BSN Holiday Hoopfest, hosted by Thomasville High. On Thursday, they competed against Munroe (Fla.) in the early game. Friday, they have another early game at 1 p.m., versus Lincoln (Fla.).
Valdosta’s girls are 11-3 on the year, two of the losses to Tift County.
Over at Lowndes, the Vikettes are far, far from home, balling it up in New York.
Around the area, Lanier County and Cook have been playing at Tift County’s McDonald’s Tifton Invitational, which wrapped Thursday.
Cook won its first day game over Irwin County, 47-36. Lanier County, which brought an 8-2 record to Tifton, were knocked about by the host school, 64-45. Cook was to take on Crisp County and Lanier faced off against Fitzgerald in the second day of action.
