Charlotte Valley Central School District named its top two students for the Class of 2026. Caleb Marino was named valedictorian and Abigail Elisabeth Vroman was named salutatorian.{p align=”left”}Over the years, Marino has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement by consistently earning a place on the Honor Roll while also receiving many academic excellence and initiative awards, recognizing both his exceptional performance and his dedication to going above and beyond in his studies. His hard work, curiosity and drive distinguish him within his class and embody the determination that has led to his success. He truly has a passion for learning, and this will continue to serve him well as he navigates future opportunities and embraces new challenges. A valued athlete, Marino has participated in varsity soccer, basketball, baseball and tennis. His efforts highlight his ability to manage the demands of both academics and athletics with maturity and determination. In his senior year, Marino was presented with the Joseph Beck Award in recognition of his involvement in interscholastic league competitions, exceptional academic achievements and dedication to community service. He has served as treasurer for the Outdoor Club, the Class of 2026, and Varsity Club, where he has shown a high level of responsibility. His involvement extends to include service as president of Tri-M Honor Society, National Honor Society, NYS Math Honor Society, Art Club and SADD, where he lent his leadership to help facilitate group activities.{p align=”left”}In the fall, Marino will be attending Hartwick College, where he plans to study music education.
Vroman is the daughter of Jeffrey and Rebecca Vroman of Charlotteville.
Academically, Vroman has consistently demonstrated an outstanding intellect, a strong work ethic, and above all else, a passion for learning. Throughout high school, she has taken some of our most challenging coursework, including advanced and honors-level coursework, and has excelled with high marks in each of them while earning college credit. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized through numerous distinctions, such as honor roll, academic excellence and initiative awards. She has received many academic All-Star awards while participating in varsity basketball, golf, softball and soccer, where she has served as a team captain. She has been a recipient of the Section IV Character Counts Award, which is given to students who demonstrate exceptional integrity, sportsmanship and responsibility, both on and off the field. In her senior year, she was honored with the Joseph Beck Award for her participation in interscholastic league competitions, outstanding academic records, and service to the community.
Beyond the classroom, Vroman has balanced a remarkable range of commitments. She has served as her class president and is a vital member of Student Council. She also participated in the Yearbook Club, Prom Committee, SADD and the Drama Club. She was selected as a member of the National Honor Society, New York State Mathematics Honor Society, and Tri-M. She has been an integral member of the music program, and she has performed at NYSMMA, All-County, and Area All-State.
In the fall, Abigail plans to attend Elmira College, where she will be majoring in nursing.
