Join gifted musicians from Tennessee Tech University for a diverse musical program at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2.
This free community concert will be at Pleasant Hill Community Church, United Church of Christ. The church is at 67 Church Drive.
The program, “Blending the Spheres: Combining Popular and Classical Music,” features several Tennessee Tech faculty members and students. There will be a variety of music including rhythm and blues, gospel, classical, and some surprises.
Performances will be vocal solos and duets, accompanied by guitar and bassoon, and classical music performed by a student string quartet.
Faculty performers are Jeff Womack, professor of bassoon and music history; and Diane Pulte, professor of voice. Joining them on guitar and cello, and in a string quartet will be Tennessee Tech students Noah Brown, Reagan Lueker, Jun Han and Jonathon Bonimarte.
Womack is also the principal bassoon of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Cumberland Quintet, and co-director of Tech’s Double Reed Ensemble.
Womack performs frequently with the Nashville and Knoxville Symphonies and other regional ensembles.
Pulte has performed various roles with the Dallas Opera, Opera Columbus, Asheville Lyric Opera, and Columbus Light Opera. She also has performed as soloist in many oratorial and symphonic works.
She is currently an active soloist, recitalist and chamber collaborator.
Admission is free, although donations are welcome and are used to support this annual Community Concert series.
This is the first event in the 2025 Concert Series in honor of Diana Riggs, gifted musician and late director of music at Pleasant Hill Community Church, United Church of Christ.
