Tim Shea led both the Salem High School girls basketball team to a state title and the Salem State women’s basketball teams to an NCAA crown during his stellar coaching career.
In three seasons at Salem High (1979-81), Shea’s Witches went 70-3 overall, including a perfect 27-0 in 1980 culminated winning the Division 1 state title.
Spending the next 30 seasons at Salem State (1981-2011), Shea guided the Vikings to a 649-197 overall mark, including the above-mentioned 1986 Division 3 national championship with a 29-1 mark. His teams qualified for 26 NCAA Division 3 tournaments in all and reached the Final Four four times.
The Salem native went on to serve as Director of Athletics at Salem State following his retirement from coaching.
